Client Connections

When all OctoEng's are successfully started, Octopus is ready to accept connection requests and queries from clients using the SAND CDBMS interactive SQL utility (nisqlm), SAND Analytic Explorer, or any ODBC-enabled front-end tool; it is also possible to connect using the SAND CDBMS Data Loader (ndlm). Client connection requests and ODBC data source definitions use the SAND CDBMS connection specified in the relevant OCTOPUS section of the nucleus.ini file. There must be a corresponding CONNECTION section in the client-side nucleus.ini file, specifying the same port number as specified by the Port parameter in the OCTOPUS section of the server-side nucleus.ini file.
