Senior Sales Engineer

Position Summary (Responsibilities):

The Senior Sales Engineer has three overall areas of responsibility:

  • Support the North American direct and alliance sales team at every stage in the sales process as needed.
  • Provide leadership and services related to proof of concept (POC) and evaluation activities for SAND products.
  • Work closely with teams inside SAND to define all product and technical information needs for prospects and customers.

Specific Duties (Roles):

  • Develop and present the technical portion of sales presentations (at prospect site or via distance presentation tools).
  • Drive the technical due-diligence process, ensuring that all of the prospect’s requirements have been captured and all integration “touch points” understood.
  • Provide all hands-on services and support related to pre-sales, proof of concept (POC) and evaluation activities for SAND products.
  • Define and maintain prospect’s statements of work, schedules and deliverables.
  • Work closely with Sales to manage the prospect’s technical expectations.
  • Participate in pre-sales technical support and product demonstration.
  • Participate in writing system documentation including installation procedures and training documentation.
  • Provide prospect and customer training when needed.
  • Provide custom programs and scripts as needed.
  • Travel up to 50% in North America.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP BW implementation, service, and ABAP debugging environment.
  • Experience with SAP extraction and BW data loading processes from R/3 and external systems.
  • Experience with the SAP archives (ADK).
  • Experience with database or data warehouse archiving and knowledge of nearline and archiving concepts as defined by the Inmon Corporate Information Factory.
  • Previous software vendor pre-sales or post-sales experience with demonstrated proven success in the field.
  • Programming / Scripting background on Unix and Windows platforms.
  • Minimum 5-7 years hands-on relational database experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years data warehousing, data modeling, and ETL experience.
  • Proficiency with SQL, OLAP, database programming and administration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
