Thomas Cook AG is the third-largest tour operator in the UK, providing more than 3 million holidays annually.

Business Challenge

Thomas Cook's customer service analysis software was limited and inflexible, making it difficult for the company's business teams to access and understand customer information. They needed a solution that would provide 24/7 access to travel records so that agents could easily package and book tours for Thomas Cook clients. Inventory records needed to be updated in “real time” in order to avoid double bookings for travel and accommodation space. To make matters more complex, Thomas Cook needed to introduce techniques to search for “near matches” as well as direct matches, in order to give clients the ability to find economical alternatives by adjusting dates, amenities, and other features of the holiday package.

SAND/DNA Solution

SAND/DNA's “fuzzy matching” functionality improve search capabilities for airline preference, economical alternatives for travel dates, hotel accommodations and amenities, price ranges, nearby attractions and other criteria important to the holiday traveller.
