SAND Green Initiative

SAND Green Initiative

Reduce Energy Requirements. Increase Business Results.

The Green Challenge

Recent years have seen massive growth in the amounts of data that organizations need to manage. As data centers expand to accommodate these exploding data volumes, the power requirements of server farms, storage arrays, cooling units, and other associated technology have increased correspondingly – leading to extremely high expenditures on energy, itself an increasingly scarce and expensive commodity.

An increasing number of companies are demonstrating their sense of corporate responsibility by adopting a "green" approach to doing business, one that recognizes the need to conserve scarce resources and minimize detriment to the natural environment. For many of these organizations, a central element of the green initiative involves an effort to reduce the power consumption of the data centers devoted to maintaining the huge (and constantly growing) volumes of data they need to keep on hand in order to satisfy analytic demands and ensure regulatory compliance.

The SAND/DNA Solution

SAND/DNA Access offers an extremely cost-effective way to reduce data center power consumption and minimize environmental impact, by providing very high rates of compression for enterprise data while still keeping it easily accessible to support analysis or audits. Compressing data by as much as 95% results in a substantially reduced footprint, cutting storage and processing requirements radically while keeping the data readily accessible in a way that is not possible with traditional archiving solutions.
